How do you ask someone for a document without chasing them?

A document request is a checklist of exactly what you need from a contact, so they upload against each item and you see what is still missing at a glance, instead of re-reading an email thread. This one is in progress — partly built and not finished, with no date promised.

How do you ask someone for a document without chasing them?

A document request is a checklist of exactly what you need — each item its own line — and the other side uploads against each one. You see the list fill in instead of re-reading a mail thread to work out what is still outstanding. This is partly built and in progress, so treat it as usable but not finished.

Is this feature available today?

Partly. Requests are in progress rather than finished, so some of the flow works and some of it is still being built. Documents, spaces and contacts underneath it are done. Do not plan a deadline around requests being complete, because no date is promised.

What happens when someone only sends some of what was asked for?

A request is designed as a list of separate items rather than one bundle, so a partial reply shows exactly which items are still open rather than being read as either "done" or "not done".

Will requests replace the current way I ask for documents?

That is the intent — one checklist instead of a growing email thread. It is partly there now. Until it is finished, keep whatever you already use as the fallback for anything you cannot afford to lose track of.
