Is docivault built specifically for accounting or law firms?

No. It is built for the exchange between a firm and its clients, which happens to look like this in professional services. The same three spaces work for a clinic and a patient, or a landlord and a tenant.

Can I keep working papers separate from what the client sees?

Yes, by space rather than by folder discipline. A draft stays in Private until someone deliberately moves it to Client. This is built and available now.

What replaces the shared drive folder per client?

A contact per client, each with their own Private, Shared and Client space, plus categories to label a document by type across all of them.

Is the document exchange itself built yet?

Yes. Workspaces, contacts, the three spaces, uploading a document, moving it between spaces, previewing common formats in the browser, comments and sharing by an expiring link are all built and available now. Document requests are in progress. Bulk import from Drive or OneDrive, and a complete record of every view and download, are not built.
